In traditional UI & UX across the industry (mostly), we usually think of buttons, screens and data and at most with user research, services, journeys and flows. But when you are designing autonomous drones, you must think about human life-at-risk, the hardware, software, real-time data, safety protocols, redundant protocols, unpredictable environments and what not into a single experience.
This talk & workshop dives into how drones operate in the real world - where regulations, weather, alarms, language barriers and physical risks (human, machine & the environment) all shape design decisions. The goal of the talk is to help you understand a new space all together, and help you prepare a mindset that you should take whenever approaching an unknown space to find, understand and design solutions.
Who should attend this? The session is aimed at anyone from basic design knowledge to leaders at C level who want to explore the exciting intersection of physical products, real-world constraints, and user experience - even if you have never touched drone technology before.
Why should you attend this? You’ll discover how to design deep-tech solutions from scratch where few references or no examples exist at all. You’ll learn the core research and testing methods that help you validate physical interactions in high-stakes domains. You’ll see how to build trust and user confidence in systems where autonomy plays a major role. You’ll leave with practical insights to apply in any complex project or emerging technology, whether it’s drones, robotics, or beyond.
What will you learn? How to design for physical space interaction? How to design for a complex system with end-to-end drone autonomy systems with things more intricate? How to approach the unknown where no direct precedent exists?
